Duration: 6 hours
The objective of this boot camp is to provide participants with a foundational understanding of the fundamentals of Islam. This is the ‘fard ayn knowledge’ which is a shar’i (Islamic legal) terminology. It is that which is incumbent upon every sane and mature Muslim.. By the end of the boot camp, participants should be able to:
Understand the basic beliefs and principles of Islam.
Gain deeper understanding on the five Pillars of Islam (building of Islam)
Gain deeper understanding of seven pillars of Emaan (Emaan Muj’mil & Mufassal)
Know Prophet Mohammad PBUH being the last messenger
Interrelationship between Islam, Emaan and Ihsan
Recognize the importance of ethics and morality in Islam.
Appreciate the diversity within the Muslim community.
Develop an awareness of common misconceptions and challenges faced by Muslims.
Syllabus
Session 1
Introduction to Islam (1.5 hour)
➢ Definition of Islam and its key concepts
➢ Building of Islam - the five pillars
➢ Shahada (testimony): The declaration of submission in Islam
➢ Salah (prayer): The significance of ritual prayer and its components
➢ Zakat (charity): The obligation to give alms and support the community
➢ Sawm (fasting): The spiritual and physical benefits of fasting during Ramadan ➢ Hajj (pilgrimage): The journey to the holy city of Mecca and its rituals

Session 2
Seven Pillars of Emaan (2.5 hours) ➢ What does it mean to ..
➢ Belief in Allah SWT
➢ Belief in the angels of Allah ➢ Belief in the divine books
➢ Belief in the messengers and prophethood ➢ Belief in the day of judgment
➢ Belief in the divine destiny
➢ Resurrection or life after death
Session 3
Ethics and Morality in Islam (1 hour)
➢ Overview of Islamic ethical principles
➢ Emphasis on justice, compassion, and honesty
➢ The importance of family values and community welfare ➢ Environmental responsibility in Islam
➢ Introduction to the diverse Muslim community
➢ Recognizing different cultural practices and traditions
Session 4
Addressing Misconceptions and Challenges (0.75 hours)
➢ Common misconceptions and stereotypes about Islam and Muslims ➢ Strategies for countering Islamophobia and promoting understanding ➢ Addressing contemporary challenges faced by Muslims
Final Exam
Multiple choice 30 questions (20 minutes)
Additionally, there will be interactive activities, discussions, Kahoots and Q&A sessions throughout the boot camp. Participation and completion certificates will be awarded to the attendees who passed the exam. Lunch and refreshments will be served.
